Who are you?
I was born in 1988, Tokyo, Japan. My family was not that into traveling, but as a little kid, I always had a dream about traveling around the world. My first trip abroad was when I was 21 years old; it was Penang Island in Malaysia. I was pretty impressed by the different culture at the time, and decided to see the world more after the graduation of university. The initial trigger that I chose Vancouver as a place for my study was that I wanted to live in this beautiful city surrounded by the mountains and the ocean. Now I have been here for almost a year and a half.
What’s your favourite thing about Vancouver?
As already mentioned, my favourite thing about Vancouver is its beautiful nature (mountains, ocean, rivers etc.), and also people’s stance for the nature. Vancouver’s companies often have an environmentally friendly policy, and tourism companies are no exceptions. This is what I love about Vancouver.
For a good meal in Vancouver I would go to…
I usually go to some of the good ramen restaurants in downtown with friends or even alone. If I am with friends and want to enjoy some drinks as well as a meal, I typically go to Cactus Club. On special occasions, I would go to Banana Leaf that serves very good Malaysian cuisines.
What is the ONE attraction or activity you would recommend to someone visiting Vancouver?
I would recommend the Stanley Park to visitors because there are many interesting attractions near it, such as Vancouver Aquarium, English Bay and more. If they take the Horse-Drawn Tour in Stanley Park, they will learn a lot about Vancouver while comfortably exploring around the park on the horse-drawn carriage.
What makes a good tour at the Vancouver Lookout?
There are many elements that make a good tour at the Vancouver Lookout, but I believe that smiles and friendly attitudes of staff are the most important. Also, of course, the knowledge about Vancouver.
When you are not working, what do you like to do?
I like going for walks and exploring Vancouver when I am not working. I also like reading, and recently started writing my own story.
